Hey there! I'm Joshua "Josh" Argue, but you can just call me the guy who almost tripped into an PrimeTime Emmy win while chasing my dream with a camera in hand. My journey kicked off in Chicago, and let me tell you, it's been a wild ride from the get-go. Picture this: an 11-year-old kid, glued to the TV, not because of cartoons, but because he's obsessed with the magic behind the scenes. Yeah, that was me, the oddball who found his calling before he even hit puberty.
High school was my playground, and not in the way you might think. While others were trying to figure out their next prank, I was the guy making short films that were... let's just say, legendary for all the wrong reasons. But hey, those cringe-worthy projects were my stepping stones into the big, bad world of professional cinematography at the ripe age of 20.
My big break? Believe it or not, it came with the Baltimore Ravens in 2007, filming cheerleader silhouettes. Talk about starting at the bottom. But that gig was my golden ticket to becoming the lead videographer for the Phoenix Suns. Yeah, from freezing in Baltimore to soaking up the sun in Phoenix, all while making sure I didn't drop the camera.
Fast forward a bit, and I've dabbled in everything from scripted series to dodging elbows and champagne glasseson reality TV sets. I joined the cool kids, aka the International Cinematographers Guild (Local 600) in 2014 and the Society of Camera Operators in 2021, because, you know, I like to keep it official.
Then 2022 rolled around, and bam! Emmy nomination. Just like that, I went from "Josh who?" to "Joshua J. Argue, the Emmy-nominated cinematographer." I've worked on everything from "Real Husbands of Hollywood" to "The Amazing Race" and "The Biggest Loser," capturing life's raw moments and turning them into the kind of stories that stick with you.
So here I am, known across the country not just for my ability to sneak into those emotionally charged moments with my camera, but for bringing a bit of fun and a whole lot of passion to every project I touch. Because at the end of the day, if you're not having fun, what's the point, right? Welcome to my world, where every day is an adventure, every shot is a story, and every moment is an opportunity to laugh at myself. Let's make some magic happen, one frame at a time.
